On The Empty Nest Syndrome (The Wren)

Price

£5.00

Who is this for? Someone who is experiencing the empty nest syndrome
What’s the tone? Sympathetic but funny
When to use it? When their child leaves home. Could be sent to the empty nesters or read out at a gathering. Because this poem is so neat and pretty, I think it makes a perfect framed gift.

This is one of the shortest poems in the collection, but then the wren is one of the smallest birds in the garden. And one of my favourites. (Having said that, she has one of the loudest voices in the garden too!) I wanted this poem to reflect young people’s habit of coming home in search of a good meal, laundry, money, etc. It wouldn’t suit someone who has lost a loved one to the other side of the world. That’s too sad. This poem is simple and straightforward, quite direct, and might help cheer them up.
